The Eightfold Blessings of the Trees
Prophet Khidr (AS) came to me and said:
"O Ahmad, listen and write down what I say. Do not be lax in enforcing the commands regarding your ship. Teach them what you and your followers have redeemed, for three are the three lands (nations) of your followers. Indeed, the trees in these lands bear fruits and leaves that contain eight benefits and eight substances that Allah created to fulfill the needs of His creations (humans and animals).
O Ahmad, truly from 'Tasyem' to 'Tameh,' the Nile River flows, and part of its streams reaches barren lands, which Allah then makes fertile. Indeed, Allah created the trees from rainwater, allowing seeds to grow into trees. The people of Qina, who are strong, are skilled farmers, and Allah blessed their agriculture until my brother Musa (AS) warned them to worship Allah. Yet, they did not heed the call of Prophet Musa (AS), most of them being from the Children of Israel. These farmers, who are of dark skin, included my brother Musa among their respected and revered figures. He was strong and muscular until Allah commanded him to be patient with his people.
Indeed, the Prophets were those whom Allah instructed to be patient and compassionate in carrying out His commands. Such are the characteristics of Allah's messengers.
O Ahmad, among the two trees with eight benefits, Allah also created a tree that benefits human teeth. Allah placed eight benefits in the three of them. You must understand this until the three lands that Allah has designated as the heart, soul, and spirit of your people become fertile. Be diligent in conveying the message and commands to those I have mentioned, so they may withstand the 'drought' and storms that bring diseases to livestock and fish. Indeed, with every calamity Allah afflicts upon lands, He provides signs to His pious servants.
O Ahmad, was it not said by your noble grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (SAW), that three calamities would befall a land if they deviated from the Shariah(Fiqh)? Indeed, in trade, your followers must observe the laws of zakat and spend part of their wealth in the way of Allah, especially for the poor, the needy, and orphans.
Previously, no Muslim would pass away and leave behind an orphaned child except that your noble grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (SAW), would embrace and care for them. You should emulate him even more excellently than what you have been doing, so Allah may strengthen your trade and bless the fields of you and your followers. Such matters are easy for Allah to accomplish, for He is the All-Powerful, the Wealthy. Your followers must be patient and steadfast in following your instructions.
Do they think they will receive guidance from Allah while neglecting your advice? No! I, Balya bin Malkan, am the one who truly conveys Allah’s counsel through you. Let them understand this.
O Ahmad, has your father (A. Alwi Syam) not told some of your followers about your birth when your mother carried you for only six months and ten days? On that morning, at the time of Duha, you were presumed dead. Then Allah commanded me to approach your mother, and by His power and will, you cried and lived until today. Do you not feel ashamed if not a single great achievement is etched in your life? Be firm with some of your followers. Tell them: 'I, Balya bin Malkan, advise you not to act ahead of your leader in planning trade. Do you think goodness lies in your plans?'
O Ahmad, convey my greetings to three of your followers. They must be diligent in carrying out their duties, and among them, let none despair. Indeed, Sittir is striving to thwart your plans for your ship and seeks weary hearts among your followers. If Allah permitted me to recount your noble grandfather Muhammad's (SAW) concern for you and your followers, they would reduce their sleep and be enthusiastic in fulfilling the three trusts in the three matters.
Begin with the three in trade, which contains the Sunnah and avoids the disliked."
