“The Decree of
the Three Ahkamul Ahsan in Rajab and the Best Acts of Worship During Illness”
He (Prophet Khidr AS) and his three brethren came and conveyed their greetings. Then Prophet Khidr AS said:
“O Ahmad, I have witnessed the arrival of your three companions. Let them remain steadfast, and let them appoint one among them as a just judge. Truly, I see in Amri a servant of Allah who is cautious in matters of Shariah and who chooses the path of justice in consultation. Indeed, it is to him that your other two companions submit and obey in every decision. This prevents the shattering of the mirror and the breaking of the chain between them in their trade.
O Ahmad, the value and worth of a bracelet of gold and gemstones do not diminish on a person’s hand, even if that hand is placed behind the back and hidden, or even when it is used for cleansing impurity (istinja’). Such is the likeness of a person of rank and knowledge who submits to a decision firmly established through consultation, reaching consensus under a judge who is learned and just. Let the three of them remember this message. And let them (Ahkamul Ahsan) convey that decision to you truthfully and properly before it is imposed upon two, three, or more of those who engage in disputes and conflicting arguments aboard your vessel. Truly, it is you who will ultimately bear responsibility before Allah for all the decisions of the judges upon your vessel. Therefore, be cautious.
O Ahmad, indeed the Month of Allah will soon arrive, in which Allah forgives the sins of His servants who are ill, then heals them without leaving any trace, and Allah forgives His servants who repent. Let the people aboard your vessel hasten towards the forgiveness of Allah at the beginning of the month of Rajab, abandoning vain hopes, leaving deeds that wound the hearts of their spouses, increasing in istighfar and charity, abandoning what is unlawful and purifying themselves from khamr (intoxicants/drugs). Truly, their supplications and repentance will not be rejected if they are truly upon the straight path, until Allah conceals their faults and raises their ranks on the 27th day of this month.
O Ahmad, Allah does not leave Your follower who is bedridden by illness except that they lie within the mercy of Allah, with a guarantee of healing, if they are among His patient servants. Restrain your sorrow over the mother of your companion whom Allah has not yet healed from her illness. Allah is Most Knowing of every decree that is best for a woman who is patient and among the righteous. Submit yourself to Allah regarding the health of your brothers and the mother of your brother.
O Ahmad, concerning the illness of haemorrhoids, Allah sends down angels who convey the finest greetings to His servant who remains patient with that illness. Truly, your companion Imran, in the time of your noble Grandfather Muhammad (SAW), whenever he suffered pain, his tongue was always moist with the praise of Allah. He did not fail to give thanks for the parts of his body that were free from pain, and he constantly sent blessings upon your noble Grandfather. Thus, he became the cause for the ruling that prayer may be performed lying down and by gesture. There was not a single day of Imran’s life except that Allah sent angels to convey greetings and the best supplications to him as a patient servant. Every cry he uttered while restraining pain was counted as praise for his Lord, and Allah loved his tongue, until your noble Grandfather embraced him in the gardens of Jannah.
Indeed, a servant of
Allah who cries out in pain while uttering:
“Laailaahailla anta Rabbularsyilazhiim
waRabbussamaawatiwalardhi
wa Rabba
kullasyaii' ,
asyfiyya Allah birohmatik..”
then sends blessings upon your noble Grandfather, is never alone in his suffering. Allah sends angels to greet him, and Allah loves him. He is not among those who complain or lament over illness if his cries are filled with praise and the Beautiful Names of Allah, even if his cries are loud due to the pain.
O Ahmad, convey to some of your followers who are present tonight the decree that Allah wills you to deliver to them. Do not withhold it. I bear witness to the loyalty of Deri Siswandi, who is wise, towards your followers in the water-rich land of Palembang. Convey to them what I have conveyed to you, for your companions under his leadership are awaiting this news. Do not restrain it. Have you not witnessed what I have witnessed? Convey it, so that the structure within your vessel becomes the best refuge for orphans, servants of Allah who wish to repent, and servants of Allah who are disabled.”
