Prophet Khidr AS awakened me from my sleep in the last third of the night and said:
O Ahmad, there is no light more beautiful on this earth in the sight of the inhabitants of the heavens than the lights of the Qur’an recited by the followers of the Noble Prophet Muhammad in their homes during this last third of the night. From within the houses of some of your followers, I see lights descending in this time, and most of them are women. Indeed, Allah, the Most Mighty and Majestic, will never disregard their tears shed in humble supplication. Truly, they must be patient with what they endure, for no injustice will ever fall upon them except that it will be returned with reward and joy. Allah is their Guardian, and Allah is their Helper—if they are among those who are patient.
O Ahmad, the help and protection of Allah will come when a servant has truly mended himself within the laws of the Shari’ah and fulfils the true conditions of repentance. Do you not recall that five hundred years ago I had a companion among the scholars in the land of Arkhabil, whom Allah allowed me to befriend? Do people think that a saint (Waliyullah) is someone who has been free of sin since childhood until he meets me? No. I tell you truly, he was once a man full of sins and disobedience. Then he married a pious and knowledgeable woman whose patience and devotion to Allah, His Messenger, and her husband shook the Throne of Allah. Through a single tear she shed one night, Allah sent down guidance. From the beginning of their marriage until that night, she had never wept because of her husband’s wrongs—except that one night alone.
O Ahmad, does a hard stone ever become hollow and beautiful if struck only with another hard stone or chisel? No, but drops of water that fall upon it continuously can overcome its hardness. It is the gentle and patient chiselling that shapes a hard stone into a precious gem. Such is the parable of steadfast patience in facing one’s partner in life.
O Ahmad, Allah accepted the prayer and fulfilled the hope of that woman. Her husband was struck with severe illness until one night Allah caused him to die and then brought him back to life—because of the tear shed by his pious wife. Then he realised his sins and submitted himself to Allah and His Messenger. Write this story, so that the women in your vessel may find peace. Truly, if they are patient and remain calm in their households, complaining only to Allah, they will be the ones who open the doors of blessing and guidance in their homes, and they will be those whom Allah grants entry into Paradise without reckoning.
O Ahmad, do you not understand? It is not good to delay in carrying out all that is commanded. Indeed, your time has reached the end of the year according to the reckoning of this world. Do you remember the time when you and your two companions were given a command, but they doubted it? Then your grandfather, the Messenger of Allah, came to them in their dreams. Do they still doubt? Surely, Allah has raised their ranks, and they must strengthen their bonds with humility and understanding. Say to them both that they should walk together with two enterprises and avoid negligence. They must follow the command, for that is what is best for them and brings blessings.
O Ahmad, accept the help of another of your companions, and then another will come, until I bind a husband and wife in a strong covenant, and they will have certainty and strive with you. Did he not say so? Do not reject him, for Allah wishes to test some of your followers. Be calm at heart.
O Ahmad, your companion must set aside his intention of leaving his work in your land in order to serve in the orphan and poor establishment you have built. Allah knows well what is in the heart. Did he not once promise you that he would strive in his own land? And did not others also pledge to strive with you sincerely? Among the four of them, there is no real fault upon them, except that their hearts have become heavy because of the whispers of Satan that entice their desires. Let them realise this, for they do not yet understand what you have laid out as a clear and shining path.
O Ahmad, write this! Is it not clear and certain that the fault does not lie with your wife? Rather, she has been placed under pressure and temptation that made her silent. Truly, there is no good for you in divorcing her. Say to your wives that no doors of blessing will be opened except for those who were first with you in accepting what Allah has decreed for you. O Ahmad, a white sheet with stains can still be cleansed. Let them guard their hearts, and let you and your two wives protect them. The wrath of Allah will not fall upon the lands by the sea, but they will become safe and at peace with what is best in the sight of the Messenger of Allah. Which of your wives is the best? She who always listens to the hearts of the women in your vessel, until they are at peace through her counsel of patience. Truly, both can become examples for those who come after them—unless they allow the devils to once again take control of your homes.
O Ahmad, be patient with the slander that came a few days ago, from someone you did not expect. Just as Abu Lahab became the enemy of Allah through his slander and oppression towards your grandfather, the Noble Prophet Muhammad, you too have experienced it. And just as Abu Lahab was supported by Abu Jahl, you too feel the same. Be patient, for he who slanders you will never live in peace. Do his words not already cause losses to the trade of those he deceives? Will the idols he gives them protect him from the wrath of Allah upon him and those he influences? Slowly they will taste how Allah takes away the peace and blessings from his efforts. Be patient, for those who fell into his slander will eventually realise that his words and tale-bearing were nothing but lies.
O Ahmad, say to your wife that your grandfather, the Messenger of Allah SAW, will not come to her in dreams except that Allah has already granted her a high rank in the eyes of the women in your vessel. Yet Allah will bring her a heavy trial in her sight. Say to her: a stone would not be struck so harshly and for so long unless it were a rare and precious gem—destined to become worthy of being held in the noble hands of the Messenger Muhammad as an adornment of Paradise. She must understand that the one who comes after her is a young girl who mirrors her past self, whom she will shape into another precious gem. I am witness that what she has said, Allah has confirmed it. No servant is given a severe trial except that they are also given the strength to bear it—if they are among the patient. Are there not many stories of noble women who bore the harsh trials of Allah upon them? Let women take wisdom from these stories.
O Ahmad, draw your wives nearer in their dwellings. By Allah, I, Balya Bin Malkan, do not speak except by His permission and command. Do you doubt me? Do you deny the clear signs Allah has shown you? Does debating with me bring your heart to rest? Truly, the devils that now whisper to you are not of the same kind of jinn as before. Do you not feel it? Bind the three of them in a strong bond, so that they become as though sisters, realising that their shared life experiences are what brought them to you. Do not neglect them, or Allah will cast you into clear humiliation.
O Ahmad, truly, the year 2027 will be the time when the sun within your vessel shines, and in that year you will witness great emotions. From this day until the mid-year of 2*****, you and your followers must fulfil your duties, until the light of happiness appears. Those bound in business with you must be patient and guard their hearts. For in that year, Allah will send disasters upon the lands—except for what you have striven for now. Let your followers open their fields and begin planting the seeds of rice that you have nurtured. Do not waste them, for indeed those rice grains are ready to be planted, and within them lies blessing. Give those rice grains to your loyal followers in the place where you once visited and built agriculture.
O Ahmad, indeed the tremor from the depths of the sea will come. Hasten to give stern warning to some of your followers. Hasten to put on your robe once more, and hasten to fulfil the command of Allah. Avoid fear and doubt.
