“The flood is Allah’s punishment for the people of Sodom.”

Prophet Khidr (AS) came to me and said:

“O Ahmad, have I not informed you in the past of the accusations made against you—that you are a liar—and the excessive slander that would come to you from some people who were once very close to you? Indeed, such people have no right to Allah’s Paradise unless they performtawbahnasuha with its true conditions. It is not enough for those who engage in slander and backbiting to merely repent to Allah and apologise to the one they have wronged; rather, they must also retract their slander and backbiting to the same extent that it was spread, declaring that the one they accused and backbitten is completely innocent of all that they had said—until the correction reaches every ear that once heard the falsehood. This is the true condition of tawbahnasuha. Indeed, their slander and backbiting are like a sack of flour scattered into the sky and blown by a strong wind. Can they possibly gather the flour again and return it into the sack in the exact same amount? Certainly not. Truly, the sin of slander and backbiting can never be erased merely by istighfarand asking forgiveness from Allah.

O Ahmad, be patient with all that they who insult you have done. You are not equal to those who are compared with you. Indeed, the sea and the sky will engulf parts of the land because of their disobedience and their insults towards you. Do not restrain it out of pity. Allah has made clear to them that when Iblis has ‘pierced and gripped their minds and their hearts’, you must not believe that you are able to drive Iblis away from them. Indeed, they are the ones who have obeyed their desires until Iblis seized their hearts and minds. Turn away from them. Surely Allah will replace them with those better and more beautiful if they are unable to escape the embrace of Iblis, until they fall into a clear humiliation.

O Ahmad, Allah Almighty has given evident warnings in the Qur’an. Indeed, the disasters that descend upon their land are the result of their own deeds. Has Allah not created trees—some beneficial to mankind and some to protect mountains and steep valleys from destruction? Yet some of them are negligent and heedless. Do they not observe the difference between the disasters decreed by Allah and the disasters caused by their own hands? Let them realise this.

O Ahmad, tell your followers and yourself that the servants of Allah who believe and guard their tongues and hearts are far better than those who are disbelieving and idolatrous, even if such people attract their hearts. Have you not advised the women on your vessel that they must be patient with their husbands, fulfil their duties towards them, restrain their tongues, control their anger, maintain their manners, and guard themselves from exposing their aurat? Indeed, Allah does not neglect His servants who are patient and righteous.

O Ahmad, calm your heart regarding the trials that have befallen your brothers. They did not become victims except as a result of the damaged and broken equipment in their land, preventing them from informing you. Look within my turban— their houses still stand firm, touched only slightly by water and earth. So calm your heart.

O Ahmad, can the people of Sodom hide from Allah’s judgement? Indeed, they ignored the warnings you conveyed. Will they repent only when flames engulf them? And when Allah topples their buildings? Do they think their strong structures and vehicles can withstand Allah’s wrath? They cannot. Truly, Allah is All-Powerful over all things.

O Ahmad, there is no error in what I have commanded and shown you. Has this not occurred before in the stories of the righteous of old? Among them were the wives of the Prophets and Messengers of Allah, and the wives of His beloved ones (the saints), who were once obedient, then tested with severe trials, and some fled from their husbands. Did they think they could flee from Allah’s decree? Indeed, Allah does not seek sincerity with conditions—let your wives understand this. Walk ‘towards the west and then towards the east’ and stop where Allah causes rain to fall and the ground beneath your feet to tremble. Stay there for two nights. There is no fault upon you, for it is Allah who brings forth such matters, not you nor I. By Allah, in Whose power I exist, He is the One who will assist both of them. Do not be reluctant or doubtful.

O Ahmad, there is no sin except that Allah opens His vast forgiveness to those who repent. There is no sin upon you. Truly, how bold they are to bear your sins by slandering and hurting your heart. Be patient.

O Ahmad, remain concealed, and prepare a place for yourself to withdraw, upon the land that Allah has appointed. Indeed, in the days ahead, many blessings will come upon your vessel. Truly, someone in the land of your brother is watching you.

O Ahmad, the sky will not become dark except for a single day, and they will be unable to see, for no light will penetrate the darkness. Some among the people of that land will seek their false gods, and some will believe the messages you conveyed, and Allah will open their eyes so that they can see and walk. Indeed, they have read your messages, yet some among them deny and turn away. Do they think their idols and their great bridges can withstand Allah’s wrath?

O Ahmad, let yourself free another slave this month so that Allah may be pleased with all that you do. Do not abandon this. Would you cast aside your M*****ah cloak so that you appear openly before the eyes of the people? It is not the intellect or outward appearance, but your heart and your inner self that must be veiled perfectly. Veil your heart from its impurities, and veil your face and your person.

O Ahmad, prepare yourself to receive what I shall teach you. Indeed, I, Balya bin Malkan, will remain with you. Truly, the great ships have been destroyed, and the time is near when a banner will rise and flutter above your vessel.”
